Preparation
To ensure your laser hair removal treatment is performed safely and effectively, please follow these instructions before your appointment.
- Shave 24 Hours Before TreatmentShave all treatment areas approximately 24 hours before your appointment, not on the same day.
- Avoid Sun Exposure for 6 WeeksAvoid tanning and sun exposure for at least 6 weeks before treatment. Recently sun-exposed skin, or skin holding a tan, may be unsuitable for laser treatment due to an increased risk of adverse reactions.
- Stop Self-Tanning Products 2 Weeks BeforeDiscontinue self-tanners, tanning lotions and spray tans at least 2 weeks before your appointment. All tanning product residue must be completely removed.
- Avoid Active Skincare for 7 DaysStop using retinol, retinoids, AHAs, exfoliating acids and other irritating skincare products on treatment areas for at least 7 days before your appointment. Consult your prescribing provider before changing any prescription medication.
- Arrive With Clean, Product-Free SkinDo not apply lotions, oils, moisturizers, deodorant, makeup or other products to the areas being treated on the day of your appointment.
- Wear Loose, Comfortable ClothingChoose loose-fitting clothing and underwear to minimize friction and irritation after treatment.
- Inform Us of Any Medical ChangesNotify us in advance of any changes to your health, medications, skin condition or recent treatments.
Aftercare
Following your laser hair removal treatment, your skin may be temporarily sensitive. Proper aftercare is important to support healing, minimize irritation and achieve the best possible results.
- Expect Mild Redness or SwellingTemporary redness, warmth or mild swelling around the hair follicles is normal and may feel similar to a mild sunburn. A cool compress or gentle, fragrance-free aloe vera gel may help soothe the skin.
- Protect Your Skin From the SunAvoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds after treatment. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily to exposed areas throughout your treatment course.
- Avoid Heat & Sweating for 24–48 HoursAvoid hot showers, hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, strenuous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating or increase skin temperature.
- Treat Your Skin GentlyFor at least 24–48 hours, avoid scratching, picking, scrubbing or exfoliating the treated areas. Avoid tight clothing and skincare products that may cause irritation. Resume exfoliating acids, retinoids and other active ingredients only once the skin has fully settled.
- Keep Your Skin HydratedUse a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the treated skin comfortable and hydrated.
- Avoid Waxing, Tweezing & PluckingDo not wax, tweeze, thread, epilate or use electrolysis between laser sessions. Shaving is the recommended method of hair maintenance once any post-treatment irritation has resolved.
- Expect Hair Shedding Over the Following WeeksTreated hairs typically begin shedding approximately 5–19 days after your appointment. This can resemble new hair growth but is part of the normal shedding process. Allow hairs to shed naturally. Once the skin has fully recovered, gentle exfoliation may help release shedding hairs.
